We all do it: complain about things we hate, bother us, or even make our lives Hell. But as I'm learning about the Law of Assumption and reading The Success Principles by Jack Canfield (you should buy RIGHT NOW. I'm not an affiliate), complaining doesn't actually change anything. In fact, it makes the problem stay longer.
Think about it. When you complain about something, you're so focused on it that it's all you think about, making it prominent in your reality. As stated in the book above, we complain about things that we can change.
If we hate our job, we can get a new one. If we hate our partner, we can get a new one. If we hate being overweight, we can exercise and eat better to lose it.
I've always knew complaining was bad, but this has completely changed me. Now, if I catch myself feeling annoyed, I ask myself, "What can I do to change it?"
It works every time. I no longer get angry, cursing at my life. Since we manifest our reality with our dominant thoughts, if we can create things we don't like, we can create things that we do like. Isn't that so much better than complaining?
Another way to think about it is that complaining gets you nowhere. If complaining about a problem made it go away, then it would've worked by now, right? But it's still there, because you're telling the Universe, "I hate this so much I want it to stay in my reality so I can keep complaining about it."
I know it sounds strange, because of course you don't want it to exist, but you're making it stay by focusing on it.
So stop focusing on it! Focus on what you DO want. Imagine the problem being solved. Imagine something that makes you so happy it brings a smile to your face.
You can even change your thoughts around by realizing that we only complain about something because we know there's something better out there for us. A better partner, job, house, car, etc.
So how can you get there? Instead of feeling helpless, set a goal on how you can obtain that better thing so your life can improve. You're not powerless; you can make anything happen, so do it.
Believe me when I say this: it makes you feel so much better. Just by doing this alone has changed my life in freaking days. Can you imagine how it will change yours?
Thanks for reading, and good luck, my Lovely Raven.
