You Don't Need Anyone's Validation

I don't care what anyone says: You're enough.

You don't need anyone's permission to do anything. If you want to become a writer, then do it. You wanna craft art and open your own gallery? Go for it. The only person stopping you is you.

I don't know why we're conditioned to needing to please other people just to make them happy and sacrificing our own happiness in return. We have this urge of obtaining validation from others and it's literally sabotaging our lives.

It needs to stop.

There's not a single person on this entire planet whose validation you need in order to discover your own self-worth. In the writing business, I've heard countless of heartbreaking stories of newbie authors who only went traditional publishing just to have someone say their writing is good. They're crushed when their stories are rejected, feeling like a failure. I see this all the time on Twitter, and it's terrible.

What are we doing? You don't need anyone to say whether or not you're good for something - you already know you are. That's way a lot of authors I follow are self-publishing because they want to write what they love and not have anyone tell them what to do. They have full control over their business.

I'm one of them. At least I will be once I publish my current book, which is halfway through the process at the time of this post.

I want you to follow your dreams, too. And to know your own self-worth, because you're the only person who can find it for yourself.

And remember: someone who gives you validation can just as easily take it away.

Thanks for reading, and good luck, my Lovely Raven.
